Indiana Pacers Receive: C Dwight Powell, G Josh Green, F Sterling Brown, DAL 2024 1st Round Pick (Top-10 Protected)
Dallas Mavericks Receive: C Myles Turner, G Brad Wanamaker

While they are 7-4 on the season, Dallas has not been that impressive of a basketball team so far this season. They currently rank 23rd in the league in offensive rating and are only scoring 102.8 points per game, ranking them 25th in the league.

On defense, the Mavericks are 18th in defensive rating and they are giving up 105.8 points per game to their opponents, ranking them 12th in the league. They are better defensively this season than on offense, but their biggest problem is giving up points in the paint.

Dallas is giving up an average of 48.2 points in the paint per game to their opponents this year, which is the 8th most points allowed to opponents in the league. Kristaps Porzingis is only averaging 1.3 blocks per game and the Mavericks do not have another avid rim-protector when he is out of the game.

Myles Turner has led the league in blocked shots two of the last three seasons and is currently leading the league in blocks per game once again at 3.2 blocks per game. He is the missing piece in this frontcourt and could not only make the Mavericks better defensively, but offensively as well.

LATEST NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Is Myles Turner A Long-Term Answer For Indiana Pacers?

On the season, Turner is averaging 14.2 points, 8.5 rebounds and is shooting career-highs with 54.2% from the floor and 44.4% from three-point range. Dallas is still missing that “it” factor and Myles Turner can absolutely fill this void next to Doncic, Hardaway Jr. and Porzingis.

The Pacers definitely have a talented looking roster, but is this team really good enough to make the playoffs and possibly win a first-round series? Right now, the answer has to be no, which is why they need to look ahead to the future and figure out what their plan is moving forward.

T.J. Warren is going to be a free agent after this season and after the 2022-23 season, both Caris LeVert and Myles Turner will be unrestricted free agents. The Pacers are not going to be able to keep everyone, which is why parting ways with some talents now and gathering a handful of future assets is worthwhile.

Dwight Powell is a cheaper option at the center position compared to Turner, Josh Green is a young player on the wing with a lot of two-way potential and Sterling Brown shot a career-high 42.3% from three-point range last season, making him a player on the wing who can make a difference right now.

Along with a future first-round pick, there is definitely value to be had in this deal for the Pacers, but is this the best offer they could get from around the league for Myles Turner?
