Eric Gordon – Houston Rockets
Top Trade Destination: Los Angeles Clippers
Trading away James Harden last season ushered in a new era for the Houston Rockets, one that will be built through the draft and their young talents. Rebuilding with youthful, athletic players, the Rockets are going to be looking to move some of their veteran talents, including Eric Gordon.
Now in his 14th year in the NBA, Eric Gordon has always been a consistent player on the Rockets’ roster, but he does not really fit their long-term plans anymore. The soon-to-be- 33-year-old shooting guard has served his purpose as a role player on their championship-contending teams through the years and does seem to be frustrated with how things have been going this season in Houston.
“It is the same old thing over and over,” Gordon told the media after the Rockets’ recent 112-104 loss to the Detroit Pistons, another young, rebuilding team in the NBA. “We just had too many droughts where we dug ourselves in a hole and we compound mistakes throughout the game. We just have to find ways to find consistency offensively and defensively and it seems like every team is getting going on us at sometime.”
Being one of the oldest guys in the locker room definitely has to be a tough feeling for Gordon right now, especially since he was on a team in the Western Conference Finals not too long ago just games away from reaching the NBA Finals!

Finding a way to move Eric Gordon is going to be something Houston looks into this season, but they will definitely face some challenges trying to do so because the veteran is owed $58.7M over the course of the next three seasons.
Not many teams in the league will be willing to take on this kind of contract, but the Los Angeles Clippers would be the best landing spot for Gordon at this point in his career.
Being able to continue fighting for a title in the Western Conference with a talented two-way team is exactly what Eric Gordon needs and this is actually a trade scenario we could see play out. Los Angeles is hot right now, but without Kawhi Leonard on the court, they are going to need some other key talents to turn to for production.

Moving Luke Kennard or Marcus Morris Sr. for Eric Gordon definitely makes sense from a fit perspective for the Clippers, but again, his contract is not too favorable. Los Angeles may not want to be tied down to a long-term contract like this, making a trade with the Rockets questionable.
Eric Gordon will likely be on the move this season and could instantly make an impact with several playoff contending teams around the league. The Clippers would be the best fit given his “3-and-D” style of play, but wherever Gordon ends up, he will be making a difference off-the-bench.
