Does this trade make sense for the Sacramento Kings?

Whether or not they get first-round value for Marvin Bagley III like they would like to, the Sacramento Kings have to be willing to part ways with Bagley before the trade deadline this year.

He is not going to play for them and does not want to play for them, so they need to try and salvage some kind of value from the former No. 2 overall pick before he becomes a free agent.

After not extending his contract prior to the start of the new NBA season, Bagley will be a restricted free agent at the conclusion of the 2021-22 season, giving the Kings a chance to possibly bring him back, but Bagley himself does not want to be in Sacramento anymore.

This Kings team definitely has some talented players in De’Aaron Fox, Richaun Holmes, Harrison Barnes, Tyrese Haliburton, Buddy Hield, and rookie Davion Mitchell, but their bench is missing key factors.

Eric Gordon, Danuel House Jr., and Kenrich Williams all bring immediate scoring value to this team and much-needed depth on the wing, giving them everything they would need to make a real playoff push.

Gordon has been a part of several playoff-contending teams throughout his career and his experiences in Houston would be invaluable to a young and inexperienced Kings team. He could immediately become a veteran leader in this locker room and give them the scoring output on their bench that they are missing right now.

Sacramento currently ranks 10th in the league in bench points per game and the additions of Gordon, House and Williams would instantly give them one of the better second-units in the league in terms of offensive production.

Danuel House Jr. would be another three-point shooter they can utilize and Kenrich Williams is sort of like a “swiss-army-knife” type of player. Last season in OKC, Williams averaged 8.0 points, 4.1 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 0.8 steals, and shot 44.4% from three-point range in 66 games, making him a very viable and reliable bench talent.

This trade gives the Kings everything they need to make a real playoff push this season and even though Eric Gordon’s contract is not too favorable long-term, this is a risk that the Kings have to be willing to make if they are to find success moving forward.
