Tom Thibodeau On Knicks Start To Season:
Tom Thibodeau has applauded the Knicks effort on defending the interior this season and he has been very happy with the fact that the team is only allowing teams to shoot 43.4% from the floor, which is Top-5 in the league right now, but Thibodeau recognizes that there are still adjustments need to be made to make this defense as frightening as it was a season ago.
Many around the league say that it just takes time for teams to build chemistry with one another, especially when new faces are added to the team in the offseason, but Tom Thibodeau was not too keen on this thought process after the Knicks loss at home to the Bucks.
On the idea that the Knicks’ starters need “20 games” to finally put things together, Thibodeau offered up the following insight:
“When you get to 20, you say 30. And you get to 30, you say 40. And then before you know it, the season’s over. So it’s a bunch of bulls**t.”

Coach Thibs definitely is not wrong and right now, the Knicks just have an effort problem on defense. Offensively, they are fine and in terms of defending the paint, they are still an elite-level defense, but the opportunities they are giving up beyond the three-point line needs to change.
