The New York Knicks seem to be picking up right where they left off last NBA season. That is, of course, during the regular season. There was much to be sired once the Knicks entered the postseason for the first time in what felt like three decades. Now, the team is playing well and can only improve from here.
This is if the front office remains aggressive. New York made some big moves in free agency and this is the reason they have been able to get off to a hot start. Evan Fournier and Kemba Walker came over in free agency while Julius Randle signed a long-term extension.
RJ Barrett continues to improve and all of a sudden, there is a core to rely on in New York. The frontcourt remains a question mark because of the health of Mitchell Robinson. When on the floor, Robinson is an elite rim protector and can cause problems on the offensive end. The Knicks could be looking for some more depth moving forward.
If New York is looking to make a deal at any point, it would make sense to target a team that is looking to sell. The Houston Rockets come to mind immediately.
LATEST NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: How Evan Fournier Is Thriving With Knicks To Begin Season
Houston finished with the worst record in the league last season and landed the second-overall pick in the draft. They used it on Jalen Green and a new centerpiece was brought to town after James Harden was traded away.
The Rockets are not expected to compete anytime soon and this means they can send away some players that might not be long-term pieces. Christian Wood comes to mind immediately.
Wood has taken a huge step in recent years. He is now a legitimate threat on both ends of the floor. Now, he can bring back a nice return for a rebuilding team. Here is what a potential deal between the New York Knicks and Houston Rockets might look like moving forward.
