How This Trade Impacts Minnesota Timberwolves
It would take a lot for the Minnesota Timberwolves to move on from Karl-Anthony Towns. He wants to be with the team, which is as much of a reason to hold onto him as any. Not often do players want to remain in one place, let alone with a team that has done as much losing as Minnesota has in Towns’ tenure.
He is unlikely to be on the move any time soon, but if he is, this is the kind of package the Timberwolves would be looking to get in return. They are getting a high-upside All-Star in Jaylen Brown and a center in Robert Williams III just scratching the surface of his potential.
Brown and Anthony Edwards would be one of the best young wing combinations in the NBA. Both have immense two-way potential, which Brown has already begun tapping into. His impact defensively would be felt greatly in Minnesota, who have struggled to slow down anyone from scoring the ball.
Williams would make a solid one-two combo with Naz Reid. Williams could provide more of a defensive impact, while Reid has already proven he can be an efficient scorer when given the opportunity.

The first-round picks provide Minnesota’s front office with some flexibility. Having multiple first-round picks makes it easier to maneuver up and down the boards for specific prospects the team might be targeting.
The Timberwolves also have all their first-round picks going forward. They would have the ammunition to pull off a trade if the opportunity arise.
