The Los Angeles Lakers pulled off the biggest trade of the NBA offseason thus far back during the 2021 NBA Draft. They were able to acquire Russell Westbrook from the Washington Wizards on draft night to set their whole offseason in motion.

Los Angeles traded Kyle Kuzma, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Montrezl Harrell, and the No. 22 overall pick to Washington in exchange for Westbrook. It was a hectic time, as there were reports earlier that the same package, minus Caldwell-Pope, would be traded to the Sacramento Kings in exchange for Buddy Hield.

Something changed at the last second, and now Westbrook is heading back home for the 2021-22 season. Some sacrifices will have to be made by everyone, as the Lakers will look a lot different this season.

Westbrook is one of at least 10 new faces that will be on the team this season. Thus far, there have been some concerns about his fit with the team as some experts expected. It’s still early, but if the Lakers decided to make a change, there are a few options that stand out.
