Los Angeles Clippers Receive: G Terrence Ross
Orlando Magic Receive: G Luke Kennard, LAC 2022 2nd Round Pick, LAC 2025 2nd Round Pick
Luke Kennard has been solid for the Los Angeles Clippers this season in his bench role, but just being a three-point sharpshooter, his upside is limited. Being owed $56M over the next four seasons, the Clippers could get out of Kennard’s contract right now not only for a more affordable one like that of Ross’, but they could also move a three-point shooter for a better all-around offensive threat.
In his limited time last season, Ross scored a total of 666 points off the bench, which was the 10th highest mark in the NBA. For years, the Clippers have always had reliable bench players and even some Sixth-Man of the Year type of players, but they were missing this kind of player last year.
With Montrezl Harrell and Lou Williams gone, the Clippers could really use this “Sixth-Man” kind of player, which is why Terrence Ross would be a smart target for them. He can score off-the-dribble, be a double-digit scorer off-the-bench, and compliments Paul George quite nicely given his ability to create space for himself.
At some point, this season, the Los Angeles Clippers are going to have to make a big move. Starting the 2021-22 season slow and not having too many reliable scorers in their second unit, this team looks like it is going to struggle without Kawhi Leonard on the floor.
LATEST NBA NEWS & RUMORS: This Cavaliers-Magic Trade Involves Terrence Ross
Terrence Ross is by no means a franchise-altering talent like that of Kawhi Leonard or Paul George, but he is more than able to hold his ground and be one of the better bench players in the league. This is the kind of player Los Angeles is missing right now and the kind of player that could help keep them relevant until Leonard returns ahead of the playoffs.
