How This Trade Impacts Sacramento Kings
After making the decision to select Tyrese Haliburton in the 2020 NBA Draft, it became clear that Buddy Hield was not a long-term answer for the Sacramento Kings.
Now, the Kings used another lottery pick on a guard in Davion Mitchell, who projects as hitting the ground running in the NBA. It’s become abundantly clear that Hield’s days as a member of the Kings are numbered. Sacramento needs to clear minutes and future cap space to maximize their roster construction.
In this particular trade scenario, the Kings would land Danilo Gallinari and he would provide a stretch-four impact in addition to Harrison Barnes and Moe Harkless. However, each of those players can also spend stretches at the small forward spot.
Gallinari wouldn’t be a long-term answer for the Kings, either. However, it’s easier to maximize the playing time for the young backcourt talents alongside De’Aaron Fox if there is a veteran wing as opposed to another shooting guard.

One of the more intriguing elements of this trade scenario for the Kings is that Danilo Gallinari is signed through just the 2022-23 season and is guaranteed just $5 million of his $21.5 million he is set to earn. Sacramento could use him in a future trade to match salary.
