Atlanta Hawks Receive: G/F Buddy Hield
Sacramento Kings Receive: F Danilo Gallinari, ATL 2023 First-Round Pick (Lottery-Protected)
After months of trying and some near misses, the Sacramento Kings finally find a trade partner for Buddy Hield. In this hypothetical deal, it is the Atlanta Hawks that land the sharpshooting guard.
To acquire him, they have to part ways with veteran forward Danilo Gallinari. Gallinari has been on the trade block this offseason as Atlanta looked to balance out their roster and cut some costs in the future.
Joining Gallinari on the way to the Kings is some draft compensation. A first-round pick in 2023 that is lottery protected from the Hawks.
For the Kings, this is a deal that they are very happy with. Their roster becomes much more balanced with Gallinari in the rotation compared to Hield. Sacramento has used their first-round pick on point guards in back-to-back years, selecting Tyrese Haliburton in 2020 and Davion Mitchell in 2021.

They are most certainly going to play multi-point guard lineups, which would squeeze Hield out of some playing time and push him to a wing spot. Now, Harrison Barnes could slide down to the wing with Gallinari playing power forward alongside Richaun Holmes.
Adding Gallinari bolsters the Kings’ frontcourt. It is an area of need, as Marvin Bagley III hasn’t panned out as hoped. Galliari gives the team solid insurance in case Bagley is injured, again, or doesn’t produce.
The draft capital gives the front office some maneuverability and options should they look to swing an even bigger trade. General manager Monte McNair is itching to make a big move and would have the assets to try pulling one off.
