The Dallas Mavericks spent the entire NBA offseason looking for a secondary ball-handler to pair with Kristaps Porzingis. While they searched high and low for deals to bring someone new to the team, the answer to their problem was already on the roster in the form of Jalen Brunson.
Brunson has been a steady performer for the Mavericks since they used the No. 33 overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft on him out of Villanova. He was an excellent collegiate player and a lot of those great qualities he carried over to the next level.
Brunson is as tough as they come, the son of former NBA player Rick Brunson. He is an improving 3-point shooter and already an efficient 2-point scorer despite his lack of size, standing 6’1”. He doesn’t let that stature slow him down, as he is a strong player that can still get to where he wants on the court with success.
This season, the Mavericks are seemingly expanding his role even more. He has been inserted into the starting lineup alongside Doncic the last two games and the results have been magnificent.
