Leading up to the 2021-22 NBA season, all the talk in Philadelphia was about Ben Simmons and not “if” the 76ers would trade him, but “when” would they trade him.

As time began to pass in the offseason and training camps began around the league, there was still no trade insight and now, about two weeks into the new season, Simmons still remains a member of the Philadelphia 76ers.

The 3x All-Star has not played in a game yet, but he has been present at team practices and it appears as if the Sixers seem to be moving forward without him.

Through their first 7 games of the regular season, the 76ers are 5-2 and currently sit one game back in the standings from the Chicago Bulls for first place in the Eastern Conference.

The 76ers are set to take on the Bulls in Philadelphia on Wednesday and this will surely be a great game to see because it could possibly be a preview of what could be a potential playoff series in the Eastern Conference this year, but regardless of the outcome of this game, the Sixers have still started out the 2021-22 season better than many believed they would.

Picking up an early-season win over the Atlanta Hawks definitely boosts their confidence, as the Hawks eliminated them from the playoffs last year, but they seem to be locked in and they’re not letting all the “outside noise” bother them.

Durability is definitely a long-term concern for this team, as Joel Embiid has already missed a game this year and just three players on this team have played in all seven games to this point, but the 76ers definitely have to be pleased with how they have started this season.

Is this early season success sustainable though and can the Philadelphia 76ers once again prove that they are one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference by claiming a top seed in the Eastern Conference this season?
