How This Trade Impacts The Philadelphia 76ers

If the Philadelphia 76ers are going to trade Ben Simmons, they will first have to accept the fact that they will not receive the kind of package they want. No one is ponying up multiple first-round picks and young players for him at this stage.

Things could change during the regular season once teams get desperate or injuries occur. More players will also be eligible to be traded in the coming weeks once recently signed and recently traded for restrictions are lifted.

This package from the Sacramento Kings would likely be one of the better ones the 76ers receive, but chances are they would decline it. If they could pry De’Aaron Fox away or have Tyrese Haliburton included as well, they would think long and hard about accepting.

This hypothetical deal, however, does provide them with what they are looking for. They are getting a young player in Davion Mitchell that looks ready to handle a significant role on a team at point guard. He was excellent with Baylor en route to the NCAA Championship this season and brings two-way play the 76ers would love.

Buddy Hield is one of the best long-range shooters in the NBA. He would be a great fit alongside Joel Embiid with his ability to space the floor and shoot from distance. Hield is a 40.6 percent shooter in his career and does it on high volume.

The 2022 first-round pick may be the best asset the 76ers are receiving. Philadelphia is hopeful that a superstar, namely Damian Lillard or Bradley Beal, will request a trade from their current teams.
