The Memphis Grizzlies could not be happier with the season that they are seeing from Ja Morant thus far. If he continues playing the way he has in the first couple of weeks of the year, Morant will be the newest addition to the NBA’s superstar family. Morant has been dynamic offensively and has made his teammates better around him.
Speaking of Morant being an offensive powerhouse, he is actually at the top of the league in a very intriguing statistic.
As noted by WorldWideWob on Twitter, Morant is currently tied with Los Angeles Lakers star Anthony Davis for the league lead in points in the paint, averaging 16 per game.
Through the first five games of the season, the 22-year-old star out of Murray State has averaged 30.4 points per game to go along with 7.8 assists, 5.4 rebounds, and 1.8 steals. He has shot 54.4 percent from the floor overall and has knocked down 40.6 percent of his three-point attempts. Those numbers show just how dominant Morant has been.
While he has been elite in the paint, Morant’s ability to knock down the three-point attempt has been noticed. Last year, he shot just 30.3 percent from the three-point line. He may not keep shooting at a 40 percent clip, but his shooting has improved and there is no question about that.
There is no question that the Grizzlies are in good hands with Morant leading the way. He has the drive and passion for the game and the will to be great. Memphis will be back in contention before too long with the play that Morant has shown.
Expect to see the Grizzlies continue improving throughout the course of the 2021-22 NBA season. Ja Morant is legit and will continue dominating for Memphis. He’s one of the most entertaining players to watch in the NBA and still has plenty of room to grow his game.
