It is a surprise for some people that Terrence Ross is still on the Orlando Magic. Ross is the last veteran standing from a Magic team that began cleaning house at the NBA trade deadline back in February.
Nikola Vucevic, Aaron Gordon, and Evan Fournier were all traded at the deadline to the Chicago Bulls, Denver Nuggets, and Boston Celtics, respectively. Naturally, people believed that Ross would be next.
Orlando made their intentions clear with those other trades that were made. They are rebuilding, so having a 30-year old high-scoring wing player coming off the bench doesn’t make much sense for the Magic.
They could certainly use the scoring punch, as the team is lacking go-to options offensively.

But, given their timeline, trading him and adding more future assets would be smart, and that is exactly what one NBA executive thinks will happen.
“He’ll be moved,” as one NBA executive told HoopsHype confidently. “They were trying to move him at the draft. They wanted to put him in a place where he could win. I think he’s worth a couple of second-round picks.”
Several contenders would love to add a player such as Terrence Ross to their teams. He is a spark plug off the bench with 3-point range as a 36.8 percent shooter from distance in his career. He is an aggressive player on offense but also has the length and athleticism to be a good defender as well.
To get a deal done, the Magic might have to lower their asking price a tad. Another executive shared with HoopsHype that the Magic were hopeful to receive a first-round pick in exchange for Ross.

Another thing that makes Ross valuable is that he is signed through 2023 on an affordable deal. He is making $12.5 million this season and $13.5 million next season.
After seeing some of the deals that players have signed in recent free agency periods, Terrence Ross is a steal for whichever team acquires him from the Orlando Magic.
