It was far from an ideal start to the 2021 NBA season for the Dallas Mavericks as they fell to the Atlanta Hawks, 113-87.
The Mavericks looked out of sorts on both ends of the court as the Hawks shot 47.9% from the floor and 42.9% from outside. While Dallas can’t be content with how their season tipped off, it was disappointing to see Kristaps Porzingis struggle once again.
Porzingis was mentioned in trade rumors at the end of last season, but the arrival of Jason Kidd to replace Rick Carlisle led the Latvian big man to stay in hopes he could find a role that suits him alongside Luka Doncic.
However, if the season opener is any indication of what we’re going to get from Porzingis, then he could be traded sooner rather than later.

Porzingis finished the loss against the Hawks with only 11 points on 4-13 shooting, five rebounds, and four turnovers while blocking two shots.
With Porzingis still not looking like a fit with Dallas, here is why a trade involving Porzingis makes sense for the Mavericks and what teams could express interest in him.
