Ben Simmons continues not to care

It is very apparent that Ben Simmons does not care about the Philadelphia 76ers anymore and he made that very clear when he practiced for the first time with the team the other day and refused to wear his practice jersey. He is basically going about his day with the mentality of “I am going to do what I want, when I want,” and this simply cannot work for the 76ers, a team with championship aspirations. 

This team finished 49-23 last season, the best record in the Eastern Conference, and they are not far off from finally reaching the NBA Finals. These types of distractions of Simmons getting kicked out of practice and not caring about his teammates cannot go on any longer for this team to be successful. 

If Ben Simmons continues to display this attitude of him not caring what happens to the Sixers, then they will not only have to trade him, but the 76ers will have to lower their standards on a trade. Only a few teams league-wide have the capability to trade an All-Star-level player for Simmons and out of these teams, none of them are looking to make a big move like this right now. 

Accepting the fact that they are going to lose value on their 3x All-Star and just trading him to make their locker room a better place could wind up being the reality Philadelphia has to settle on. Right now, the team atmosphere and attitude is very toxic, which is definitely not a good thing heading into a new season.

There are too many distractions with all the drama surrounding Ben Simmons right now and if he pulls these antics again as he did in practice, then the Philadelphia 76ers will have no choice but to give in and just trade him in order to remain a real championship contender. Distractions ruin great teams in this league and right now, the 76ers are heading down this path.
