Does this trade make sense for the Golden State Warriors?

As much as the Warriors have said that they want to keep James Wiseman long-term and build him into a potential All-Star in the future, you have to believe that Bob Myers would jump on a trade involving Wiseman if it gives the Warriors a key piece to potentially win a championship with.

Derrick Favors is definitely this kind of player and while he is not much of a stretch big man that can knock down shots from the perimeter, he would give the Warriors a sense of stability in the paint. For his career, Favors has averaged 7.2 rebounds per game and 1.2 blocks per game, making him a more than capable contributing big man on the defensive end of the court for Golden State.

The Warriors finished 22nd in the league last season in total rebounds per game and they also finished dead-last in the league in offensive rebounding.

Since the start of the 2017-18 season, Derrick Favors has averaged over 2.0 offensive rebounds per game, immediately giving the Warriors a major boost on the offensive end of the court, as well as on the defensive end of the court due to his overall rebounding numbers.

The last thing opposing teams want to give the Warriors is second-chance scoring opportunities because if you give Steph Curry another chance to shoot the ball, the chances of it going in are pretty high!

Adding Favors creates more second-chance scoring opportunities for the Warriors and in addition to the veteran big man, adding two total first-round picks in 2022 and 2023 is really fair compensation for Golden State.

Both the Clippers and Heat’s draft picks would likely be near the end of the first round, but they would have the capability to move around in said drafts because of the assets they would have. Out of any trade the Warriors could potentially make involving James Wiseman, this one is really fair for them and something they should absolutely consider if it is on the table at any point during the 2021-22 season.
