How This Trade Impacts Miami Heat
The Miami Heat made one of the biggest splashes in free agency this summer landing Kyle Lowry from the Toronto Raptors via sign-and-trade. He agreed to a three-year, $90 million deal and was then acquired in exchange for Goran Dragic, Precious Achiuwa, and a future second-round pick.
The Heat is hoping he and some of their other acquisitions this offseason can help get them back to contending in the Eastern Conference. They are putting a lot of eggs into the Lowry basket. If things don’t work out, there won’t be many avenues to go down to fix things.
But, trade with the Brooklyn Nets could be one of them. Acquiring Kyrie Irving would be a risky proposition, but Pat Riley has never shied away from making a move that he feels will help the Heat win games and become a contender.
Irving is six years younger than Lowry, giving the Miami Heat a longer championship window. Irving isn’t the defender that Lowry is, but he would help take the offense to heights they haven’t seen in a few years.

He would greatly improve the team’s offense as well, giving them a bonafide go-to scorer that can get a basket pretty much whenever he wants at will. Irving can be a great table setter as well. His presence would enable Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo to focus on their strengths.
Paramount in this trade is that Irving would immediately be eligible to play. There are no mandates in place in Miami as there are in Brooklyn, so he could play in every game as long as he is healthy.
