Would this trade make senes for the Detroit Pistons?
When rebuilding, teams have to look at the cast of characters that they have and see where there are holes. The backcourt in Detroit has a chance to be strong and Saddiq Bey holds down the small forward position. This means that Simmons has plenty of options going to a team like the Pistons.
The Pistons would not need to have Simmons handle the ball in the half-court, which is a huge benefit. They could even choose to use his 6-foot-10 frame down low as a forward — creating two-man game opportunities with Cade Cunningham initiating.
Simmons would be able to rebound on both ends of the floor while continuing to play elite defense. The Pistons have their core to build around and it begins with Cunningham. Adding the star power right away could be valuable to the locker room.
