The standoff between the Philadelphia 76ers and NBA All-Star Ben Simmons has garnered a lot of attention around the basketball world. There are plenty of people that are against what Simmons is doing, but there are just as many that are standing with him.

One of the people who weighed in on the situation is 76ers legend, Allen Iverson. Iverson is not someone that the 76ers currently employ, but he still carries a lot of clout with the fans and people within the organization.

Recently, he made mention of Simmons in a tweet. There wasn’t much to gain from it, but it would seem that Iverson is backing Simmons, telling him to follow God’s plan and execute.

Iverson tagged the wrong Ben Simmons in the tweet, but it was clear that he was showing his support for him. Many of the people who responded to the tweet stand opposite of Iverson and were critical of Simmons’s decision.

There are probably more people who cannot back Simmons, especially since a lot of them are fans of the team. The 76ers are undoubtedly a better team with him on the court than they are without him.

Philadelphia was the best team in the Eastern Conference last season but fell short once again in the playoffs. Simmons’ shortcomings offensively were a big reason for that, and something many of the naysayers in the comments made sure to mention.

As things stand right now, Simmons has reported to the team. He has been taking part in some portions of practice as the team gears up for the beginning of the 2021-22 season. But, it is anyone’s guess about whether or not Simmons will be in the lineup opening night or at any point this season.
