The Indiana Pacers’ streak of five consecutive postseason appearances was snapped last season, as Nate Bjorkgren’s squad made it to the NBA play-in tournament, only to lose the 8-seed game to the Washington Wizards.

Last season was a complete loss for the Pacers given their injuries and mismanagement, which is why they fired Bjorkgren after one season and brought in long-time Mavericks’ head coach Rick Carlisle, who coached the Pacers for a few seasons earlier in his coaching career.

This Pacers team is looking to turn a new leaf during the 2021-22 season and has proven that they can win with the talented players on their roster, but the injury bug that has not left this locker room has other plans.

T.J. Warren is still sidelined after undergoing foot surgery last season, Caris LeVert is dealing with a fracture in his back, Justin Holiday is dealing with an ankle injury and now Malcolm Brogdon has been added to the injury list with a left shoulder injury.

Brogdon is dealing with a Grade 1 left AC joint sprain, which is typically considered a minor injury, but shoulder injuries can be tedious, especially for point guards in this league.

These injuries take time to heal and while the Pacers are optimistic that their potential All-Star guard will be good to go the first week of the season, this situation is definitely one to keep an eye on.

Amidst all of their injuries, the Indiana Pacers have played pretty well this preseason, winning two of their first three games, and rookie Chris Duarte has played a big role in this team’s success.
