Philadelphia 76ers Receive: G De’Aaron Fox, G/F Buddy Hield
Sacramento Kings Receive: G/F Ben Simmons, G Seth Curry

Getting De’Aaron Fox would be a huge move for the Philadelphia 76ers and quite honestly, this move would keep them near the top of the Eastern Conference against the likes of the Nets and Bucks. Fox is so much better offensively than Simmons right now and next to Embiid and Harris, he could easily continue being a dynamic scorer in transition.

Adding Buddy Hield would not be a terrible thing for the 76ers to do, but his contract definitely is not favorable. Hield is owed $61.5M over the course of the next three seasons and percentage-wise, he is not as good of a three-point shooting threat as Seth Curry is.

While he is still in the midst of his career, Seth Curry’s career three-point shooting percentage is 44.4% on 1,287 career attempts, which ranks him second on the NBA’s All-Time Three-Point Shooting Percentage list behind Steve Kerr, who shot 45.4% for his career from deep. Making just $8.2M this season and then $8.5M next season, Curry is definitely a more affordable option than Hield is on the perimeter.

Gunning for a player like Damian Lillard or Bradley Beal in exchange for Ben Simmons has been the goal of the Philadelphia 76ers all offseason long, but these scenarios are not going to happen.

Both Lillard and Beal are not going anywhere anytime soon right now, which is why Sixers’ management will have to open their eyes a little and be more realistic with their trade wishes.

De’Aaron Fox is only 23-years-old and he is already one of the best scorers at the point guard position in the league. His first step is as good as anyone else’s in the league and he may just be the fastest point guard out there right now.

Fox just signed a max contract extension with the Kings to remain under contract through the 2025-26 season, so Philly would be tied down to him long-term, but the young guard is someone they can build with next to Joel Embiid for the foreseeable future.

Moving Ben Simmons for De’Aaron Fox definitely seems like something the Philadelphia 76ers are wanting to do, but things may not be the same the other way around. Sacramento wants Ben Simmons, but the idea of pairing him with Fox for the foreseeable future sounds a lot better than moving Fox for Simmons.

Plus, is taking on Buddy Hield’s contract really worthwhile for the Philadelphia 76ers? They are already over the cap line and are paying luxury taxes, but by acquiring Hield, they would owe a lot more in taxes this season and moving forward. While it definitely looks like a simple trade, there are a lot of questions surrounding a potential De’Aaron Fox for Ben Simmons swap for both teams.
