There was some progress made in the standoff between the Philadelphia 76ers and NBA All-Star Ben Simmons, as he finally reported to camp. The two sides had discussions and worked out a plan which resulted in Simmons returning to the team.
However, Simmons has no intentions of playing. This is likely a money-driven decision, as the 76ers were withholding his salary and had the ability to fine him for everything that he missed. That was likely the driving factor behind him returning to the team.
This is a step in the right direction, but the Philadelphia 76ers are still going to be looking to deal Simmons away. There has been a lot of damage done, from both sides, that is too tough to overcome. So, getting some assets in return for him that can strengthen the team and allow everyone to move on would be ideal.
One of the teams that were mentioned as a possible landing spot for him was the Sacramento Kings. Looking to snap a 15-year playoff drought, general manager Monte McNair was looking to make a splash this season.

He inquired about Toronto Raptors All-Star Pascal Siakam and Simmons to upgrade the team’s roster. Of the two, Simmons seems more realistic. Recently, David Aldridge, writing at the subscription-based, The Athletic, shared Simmons’s stance on the Kings.
“I’ve written this on Simmons to Sac before, and the rationale still holds. Simmons is an elite defensive player. He’s an elite passer. He has four years left on his deal. (He would have no problem going to Sacramento, I’m told, so strong is his desire to get out of Philadelphia.)”
Toronto and Portland were the two cities Simmons reportedly didn’t want to go to because he is a young socialite. The California teams were who he was most open to joining.
