Any deal involving the New York Knicks has some extra layers added to it because of the New York state mandates on indoor events. If a person cannot show proof of vaccination, they are ineligible to attend events, such as games at Madison Square Garden.

Everyone currently on the Knicks roster is eligible and fully vaccinated. They would have to find out Collin Sexton’s status before moving forward with any trade, as they will not be acquiring a player that would miss a minimum of 41 games.

Sexton is the headliner of this deal heading to New York. Forward Dean Wade is joining him but will be hard-pressed to crack the Knicks’ frontcourt rotation.

Heading to Cleveland is second-year guard Immanuel Quickley. Quickley came out of nowhere as a rookie and earned a spot in Tom Thibodeau’s backcourt rotation. Veteran Taj Gibson is a favorite of Thibodeau’s and is included to help salaries match.

The 2023 first-round pick is the one that the Knicks acquired from the Dallas Mavericks in the Kristaps Porzingis blockbuster. Given the current state of the Mavericks, it would be surprising if that didn’t convey as they are unlikely to land in the top-10 of the draft.
