Does this trade make sense for the Utah Jazz?

As the 2021-22 season progresses, we could see the Utah Jazz look to be “buyers” and add a player like Thaddeus Young in favor of Bojan Bogdanovic, but overall, it is hard to imagine the Utah Jazz would make this trade right now. Bogdanovic ranked third on the team in scoring last season and ranked third in total three-pointers made.

Perimeter shooting is such a big part of Utah’s game plan and they are not changing their philosophy heading into a new year, which is why adding Thaddeus Young may not make much sense right now. He is not much of a three-point shooter and Young would wind up slowing down a relatively fast-paced team offensively.

In terms of “do-it-all” play with being able to score, pass, rebound and defend, Young definitely has an advantage over Bogdanovic, but the new season begins in a matter of weeks.

Utah is not going to play around with their roster this close to the season, which is why if this trade were to occur, it would not be until December at the earliest.

The Jazz is not far off from being a championship-worthy team in the Western Conference and while Thaddeus Young is an excellent piece to add to their puzzle, he is not the piece that sets them over the edge in terms of talent. For that reason, the Jazz would be smart to roll into the season with the team they currently have assembled.
