How This Trade Impacts Atlanta Hawks
The Atlanta Hawks are on the cusp of really making some noise in the Eastern Conference. They made a surprise run to the Eastern Conference Finals last season and are poised to be a perennial playoff contender.
But, the organization should be striving for more than just merely being a playoff contender. They want to become title contenders and acquiring a player of Brandon Ingram’s caliber would certainly help them achieve that.
The 24-year old Ingram is one of the premier point forwards in the NBA. He is an excellent two-way player and would give the Hawks another player with legitimate star potential to pair with Trae Young.
The Hawks would have to feel good about their future with Ingram, Young, and John Collins as their Big 3 moving forward. Having a foundational piece at every level of the lineup is something teams dream of accomplishing.

This trade doesn’t drain them of all their depth, either. Clint Capela, Kevin Huerter, Lou Williams and Danilo Gallinari are excellent supporting pieces. Rookies Jalen Johnson and Sharife Cooper are two more players with upside. The team likes Onyeka Okongwu as well, but he is currently recovering from a shoulder injury.
Willy Hernangomez would help provide some more depth up front in case his recovery takes longer than anticipated. He would help back up Capela along with Gorgui Dieng.

Maybe not this year, but it wouldn’t be too long before the Hawks were on par with the Brooklyn Nets and Milwaukee Bucks when it came to matching star power. Atlanta would be among the few legitimate title contenders in the NBA if they were to acquire Ingram.
