3 Second-Year Players Who Could Have Breakout Seasons

NBA Analysis Network

The 2020 NBA Draft was a deep one and it saw many players contribute in year one. The exciting part is watching prospects continue to improve at a young age. That is what is going to happen to many of the sophomores as they enter their second year in the league.

It was an exciting race for NBA Rookie of the Year between LaMelo Ball and Anthony Edwards. Ball came in and averaged 15.7 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 6.1 assists for the Charlotte Hornets. He played just 51 games but was able to beat out Edwards for the award.

The Minnesota Timberwolves rookie was not the complete player that Ball was but scored at a higher clip with 19.3 points per contest. These are the two biggest stars from the draft that should continue to shine in year two.

Not every prospect came into the NBA and saw the same success as Edwards and Ball. This goes for the likes of James Wiseman and Obi Toppin. They are honorable mentions to have breakout seasons if all goes right.

When looking at the draft class and the current situation of some players, there are some clear candidates who can take a huge step. Here are three players who can have big-time breakout seasons in their second year.
