The Ben Simmons trade rumors are one of the biggest headlines in the NBA and they are beginning to heat up once again.
It sounds like the Philadelphia 76ers may be zeroing in on a team to trade their disgruntled All-Star to.
The Minnesota Timberwolves, Sacramento Kings, and Cleveland Cavaliers were thought to be the frontrunners for Simmons. But, it sounds as if the Indiana Pacers are emerging as a potential landing spot.
When those teams were mentioned, trade packages rarely were. There were no rumored players going back to Philadelphia, but with the Pacers, there have been numerous players mentioned.
LATEST NBA NEWS & RUMORS: Pacers, 76ers Discuss Trade Involving Ben Simmons, Caris LeVert?
Recently, it was reported that Caris LeVert was being discussed in a potential deal between the Philadelphia 76ers and Indiana Pacers. Now, another report has surfaced involving one of LeVert’s teammates in Malcolm Brogdon.
As Jordan Schultz notes, Brogdon would be a great fit for the current makeup of the 76ers roster. He has performed at a borderline All-Star level and he would provide the team with solid two-way play.
Brogdon isn’t quite the defender that Simmons is, but is certainly no slouch. Any drop-off between the two defensively is more than made up with the improvement the 76ers’ offense would see with Brogdon in the mix compared to Simmons.
LATEST NBA NEWS & RUMORS: Pacers, 76ers Discuss Trade Involving Ben Simmons, Caris LeVert?
It is also worth noting that the Indiana Pacers originally offered Brogdon and the No. 13 overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft to the 76ers. Philadelphia declined it at the time, but the fact they are circling back may mean that they have finally lowered their asking price and are more amenable to making a deal.
A return package including Caris LeVert and Malcolm Brogdon would be a big win for the Philadelphia 76ers given how negotiations have seemingly gone thus far.
