Klay Thompson Update Shows Huge Progress For Warriors’ Star

The Golden State Warriors are cautiously optimistic that they will be getting Klay Thompson back on the court this season. It has been more than two years since Thompson last suited up in an NBA game.

During Game 6 of the NBA Finals against the Toronto Raptors, Thompson tore the ACL in his left knee. That sidelined him for the entire 2019-20 season. The 2020-21 season being pushed back actually helped Thompson.

He was on track to return for opening night, as he would have been almost 18 months removed from knee surgery. Unfortunately, while working out in Los Angeles on November 18th, he tore his right Achilles.

Now, as we head toward the 2021-22 season, Thompson looks ready to return. When exactly that will be is anyone’s guess. Achilles rehab is usually a 12-month process, so we may not see him back on the court until mid-November at the earliest.

The Warriors will be cautious with him as they do not want any setbacks to occur. He is a key cog to their success and they need him back on the court as healthy as possible if they want to contend once again.

LATEST NBA NEWS & RUMORS: Warriors’ Klay Thompson Has ‘Healthy Appreciation’ After Injuries

There have been questions and concerns about how close he will be to his level of play pre-injury. One NBA scout that talked to Evan Massey of NBA Analysis Network believes he won’t miss a beat.

“Klay looks great. He’s going to be back to the same Klay Thompson pre-injury. I haven’t seen him look this locked in and motivated, even before his injuries.”

That is certainly good news for the Golden State Warriors, who are relying heavily on Thompson’s return this season. He greatly improves them on both ends of the court as a lethal 3-point shooter and ace defender.

It will be nice to see the Splash Brothers back in action this season at some point. Thompson was already one of the best two-way players in the NBA; could he bring his game to another level if he is as locked in and motivated as the scout says he is? Golden State will certainly be dangerous if that is the case.
