Ben Simmons Saga Creates New Opportunity
Heading into the new year, the Philadelphia 76ers will have high expectations for themselves with or without Ben Simmons. As a result, they will need to have key guys on their bench that they can turn to and Tyrese Maxey definitely looks to be one of those guys.
Who knows, they could even throw Maxey into the starting rotation should they trade Simmons before or early on in the season! Philadelphia is contending for a championship right now and while they will lean on their experienced veterans in Joel Embiid, Tobias Harris, Seth Curry, and Danny Green, they will need guys like Maxey to produce when his number is called.
“He’s a special player and he’s very mature for his age,” Green went on to say in regards to Tyrese Maxey. “He’s smart, he understands the game, and he has a good group around him that can help and Doc. He can’t do it alone. Obviously, we have to help him, but Doc has coached some pretty good point guards and teach them how to run the ship.”
With him having this “star-like” potential according to Danny Green, it is not crazy to believe that Tyrese Maxey will be the 76ers best player outside of their starting unit. The future is bright for this young guard and Simmons potentially being traded could open the door for a new 76ers’ All-Star to emerge.
