Los Angeles Lakers Receive: G Eric Gordon
Houston Rockets Receive: F Talen Horton-Tucker, G Kendrick Nunn

This hypothetical trade between the Los Angeles Lakers and Houston Rockets lands veteran Eric Gordon in Los Angeles. He has been the center of trade rumors for a while now as Houston is very clearly rebuilding and in a youth movement.

Gordon is one of the last players remaining on the team from the Mike D’Antoni era along with Danuel House Jr. It would not be surprising to see both of them moved at some point this season.

The Rockets are receiving Talen Horton-Tucker and Kendrick Nunn in this deal. If this was an offer actually on the table for them, they would likely accept it in a heartbeat.

Horton-Tucker has immense potential since being a second-round pick in the 2019 NBA Draft. Turning only 21-years old in November, he fits the Rockets’ timeline perfectly as they selected four teenagers in the first round of the 2021 NBA Draft.

While he hasn’t had too many opportunities to showcase his talent with the Lakers, his per-36 minute stats show that he can be a difference-maker on both ends of the court. Standing 6’4” with a 7’1” wingspan, he can be an absolute terror defensively.

Nunn is already 26-years old but would provide Houston with another scoring option in the backcourt. He could provide minutes in a starting role or as a reserve, as the Rockets could use some help in the backcourt with John Wall unlikely to play during the regular season.

Houston would love to unload Gordon’s contract and to get a player such as Horton-Tucker back in the package would be a huge win. Now, let’s take a look at this deal from the Lakers’ perspective.
