Carsen Edwards
Carsen Edwards was traded by the Boston Celtics to the Memphis Grizzlies this offseason along with Kris Dunn, a 2026 second-round pick swap and traded player exception. In exchange, the Celtics received Juancho Hernangomez.
Edwards was recently waived by the Grizzlies, who needed to cut down their roster because of the number of guaranteed contracts they had on their books. Now, Carsen Edwards is a free agent, but that may not last too long.
Edwards is undersized at 5’11” but with a 6’6” wingspan he can hold his own against guards defensively. He may never be a lockdown defender, but at least he puts the effort in on that side of the ball.
Where the Purdue product earns his keep is on offense. We have seen numerous times when he gets hot, he can fill up the basket in a hurry. He didn’t receive too many opportunities during his Celtics tenure to showcase his skills, but he can certainly help a team at the end of the bench in search of a scoring punch.

Carsen Edwards had some excellent showings, averaging 22.2 points per game to go along with 5.2 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 1.8 steals per game in the G League. That is just a glimpse as to what he could provide should he be pressed into duty for a team in need at the point guard position.
