Rondae Hollis-Jefferson
Things have not panned out exactly as planned for Rondae Hollis-Jefferson. He was the 23rd pick in the 2015 NBA Draft by the Brooklyn Nets but has been unable to carve out a consistent role after his rookie contract expired.
He played 60 games with the Toronto Raptors during the 2019-20 season and 11 with the Portland Trail Blazers this past season as a late-season signing. Again this summer, he was met with a cold free-agent market and remains unsigned.
His stunted development offensively likely has a lot to do with it. Hollis-Jefferson never developed his offensive game, as he is not a threat to score the ball unless it is a dunk or a layup. He is a 21.2 percent 3-point shooter in his career but a 73.5 percent foul shooter in his career.
While the Arizona product isn’t a difference-maker offensively, he is a strong defender. He stands only 6’6” but is strong enough to bang on the interior with bigger players. A majority of his minutes in recent seasons came at the power forward spot, but he can play either forward spot while having the capability of defending any spot on the court.
