How A Trade Between Minnesota Timberwolves & Charlotte Hornets Could Look

The Minnesota Timberwolves would be looking for quite a haul if they were to move on from Karl-Anthony Towns. He is one of the best offensive big men in the NBA and will require a combination of young players and draft capital to complete a deal. The Charlotte Hornets could offer that.

To make salaries match, as Towns is owed $31.6 million, the Hornets can build a package around Gordon Hayward. He would provide Minnesota with a veteran scoring option on the wing to go with Anthony Edwards and D’Angelo Russell in the backcourt.

P.J. Washington and Miles Bridges are two young players the Timberwolves could target in a deal. They would further help balance out a Minnesota roster that has a logjam in the backcourt and wings but lack many frontcourt pieces.

Charlotte has a full allotment of draft picks going forward, so they could offer a 2022 pick via the New Orleans Pelicans, a 2024 first-round pick, and a 2026 first-round pick as well.

To make salaries match closer, the Hornets could also take back Jarrett Culver, who has seemingly fallen out of favor. An additional second-round pick can be included for him.
