Toronto Raptors Receive: C Dwight Powell, F Maxi Kleber, G Tyrell Terry
Dallas Mavericks Receive: G Goran Dragic, F Yuta Watanabe, TOR 2024 1st Round Pick (Top-8 Protected)
Since the 2011-12 season, Goran Dragic has averaged double-figure scoring numbers, and he has shot over 37% from three-point range in three of the last five seasons.
Recently, Dragic was a key talent to help take the Miami Heat to the NBA Finals in 2020, only to lose to the Los Angeles Lakers in six games.
However you look at it, Goran Dragic is still an impactful guard in this league, and while he is now 35-years-old, Dragic is still a player who can either start or come off the bench and make a positive difference his team.
Toronto could wind up holding on to Dragic as they look to fix their backcourt without Kyle Lowry, but there have been some rumblings about a potential buyout.

This trade above does work for both teams financially, but the Mavericks would much instead add Dragic via a buyout; that way, they do not have to sacrifice some of the critical assets on their roster to absorb his $19.4M contract for this year.
If the Raptors were to buy out Goran Dragic, it seems like the Mavericks would be very high on his list of teams to go to, as Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report stated on Halftime Sports that if he were bought out, Dragic would “swiftly sign” with Dallas.

Luke Doncic is also good friends with the veteran point guard, as the two of them teamed up together on Team Slovenia this past summer in the Olympic Games, so this fit seems like the best for both parties.
However, Dallas may not want to trade away Maxi Kleber right now for Goran Dragic, which is why a buyout agreement is the best way for Dallas to land Dragic.
