Indiana Pacers Receive: F Thaddeus Young
San Antonio Spurs Receive: G/F Jeremy Lamb, C Goga Bitadze, 2022 First-Round Pick (Lottery Protection)

The San Antonio Spurs make the most of their trade with the Chicago Bulls and cash in yet another asset in this hypothetical deal. Thaddeus Young, one of the more sought-after veterans that didn’t end up being traded at the deadline, is now on the move for the second time this offseason.

The Spurs are sending Young back to the Central Division, this time with the Indiana Pacers. In exchange for Young, San Antonio will be receiving wing Jeremy Lamb, big man Goga BItadze and a 2022 first-round pick that is lottery protected.

For San Antonio, this deal has everything they would want should they look to flip Thaddeus Young again. They keep their cap sheet clean, adding an intriguing young player and draft capital.

Lamb returned last season from ACL surgery and is on an expiring deal. He dealt with some more injuries, but when he was on the court, he was able to produce. The Spurs have a crowded wing rotation, so it wouldn’t be a surprise if he were to be on the move again at some point.

Bitadze is an intriguing prospect whom the Pacers selected with the No. 18th overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft. He has shown some excellent instincts as a shot-blocker, averaging 1.3 per game last season despite playing only 12.5 minutes. For his career, he is averaging 1.0 blocks per game in 10.4 minutes.

The Georgia native has also shown some strides in expanding his range to the 3-point line. It is still a work in progress, but the potential is there. If any organization can help bring that out of him, it is the Spurs.

The 2022 first-round pick is a nice future asset to have. San Antonio could use that to bolster a trade package for a star looking for a new home, such as Ben Simmons.

The Spurs would be for this trade, but how would the Pacers feel about it? Let’s take a look at it from their perspective.
