#3 Ben Simmons – Philadelphia 76ers
He may be a major liability on offense, but this should not take away from what kind of defender Ben Simmons is. The 76ers’ big man is one of the best all-around defenders in the NBA both on the perimeter and in the paint, which is why he has a strong chance to win the 2021-22 NBA Defensive Player of the Year award.
Seeing as he is a 7-foot guard, there really are no weaknesses to Simmons’ game on the defensive end of the court. He can guard any position and with a 7’0” wingspan, Ben Simmons is a menace in disrupting passing lanes.
Time and time again for the Philadelphia 76ers last season, Simmons would be able to get out in transition after getting a stop on defense, hence why he was named to the All-Defensive First Team.
Who knows what the future holds for Simmons in terms of being with the Philadelphia 76ers since he is a liability on offense, but if they keep him around, they know what they will be getting defensively.
