The 2014-15 season, 2016-17 season, and 2017-18 season resulted in the Golden State Warriors being World Champions, but while they made the NBA Finals for five consecutive years, this team has now missed the playoffs for two straight seasons, the first time they have done so since they missed the playoffs for back-to-back years in 2011 and 2012.

Injuries have decimated this Warriors team over the last two seasons and their second-best player, Klay Thompson, has not played in a game since Game 6 of the 2019 NBA Finals when he tore his left ACL. Thompson was on track to return to action last season, but then he suffered a ruptured right Achilles tendon during his rehab process, keeping him sidelined for another year.

Recent reports suggest that Klay Thompson will make his long-awaited debut on Christmas Day, as the Warriors take on the Phoenix Suns in the desert, but do the Warriors have a championship-contending roster with the return of Thompson?

They did bring back Andre Iguodala in free agency, as well as sign Otto Porter Jr. and Nemanja Bjelica, plus the Warriors drafted two young, high-level talents in Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody. The future is bright for the Golden State Warriors, but they could realistically look to sacrifice their young talents to try and win more championships now.

Let’s take a look at a potential trade put together by Bleacher Report’s Zach Buckley that results in the Warriors adding the 3x All-Star shooting guard to try and win their 4th title in the last 8 seasons.
