The Dallas Mavericks have been looking for a trade partner to unload Kristaps Porzingis on for a few months now. Rumors going back to the NBA Trade Deadline about the Mavericks shopping the Latvian big man, and they have not quieted down since.
Dallas tried to do a swap with the Golden State Warriors that was centered around Kelly Oubre Jr. That deal didn’t gain any traction and Mark Cuban denied that the team was trying to trade Porzingis.
Where there is smoke there is normally fire. Another report came out that Porzingis was unhappy with his role in Dallas, feeling like he was an afterthought compared to Luka Doncic, not a co-start.
Interest in Porzingis was minimal around the league, and his performance in the 2021 postseason certainly didn’t help improve his trade value around the league. He was a shell of himself, struggling to make an impact on either end of the court.
