Would this trade make sense for the Philadelphia 76ers?
The Philadelphia 76ers have been a team looking to win a title for years now. This was the best chance they have had since they found their way out of purgatory. Now that Philadelphia has Joel Embiid locked up, it is time to put the right pieces around him and that is not Ben Simmons.
Daryl Morey built a rotation that was primed to succeed. This involved getting some three-point shooters out on the perimeter to give Embiid an option to pass out to. That should be a priority once again.
Simmons will warrant a big return, and that includes some scoring threats. He continues to be a defensive star and a guard who can pass at a high rate. Malcolm Brogdon can take over the point guard spot while TJ Warren can step into the lineup once he returns from injury.
The 76ers’ direction would benefit them more to trade Simmons and build around their MVP-caliber big man. Embiid took a step this season with Doc Rivers as head coach and earned a lucrative extension.

That is only going to continue to improve. The 76ers are going to be championship contenders moving forward. Still, Simmons should not be part of the equation this year. There is no coming back from his postseason performance, and both sides would benefit from a split.
