Kristaps Porzingis

When the Dallas Mavericks acquired Kristaps Porzingis from the New York Knicks in 2019, many people thought they had just created the next great duo in the NBA. Porzingis was recovering from a torn ACL but had shown he had incredible talent and could be a great partner for Luka Doncic.

Since then, Doncic has held up his end of the bargain. He is a perennial contender for the MVP award, stuffing the stat sheet. Porzingis, on the other hand, has been a bit of a letdown.

Injuries have kept Porzingis from reaching his full potential. He has battled numerous injuries with the Mavericks, limiting his consistency and impact. His performance in the 2021 postseason against the Los Angeles Clippers was abysmal, as he struggled on both ends of the court.

Dallas has looked into moving him but to no avail. At 26-years old, his career hangs in the balance. Will he be able to turn into the superstar sidekick Dallas thought they were getting? Or will he struggle once again, becoming that much more of an albatross contract?
