The Golden State Warriors have fallen on tough times in the last two NBA seasons. After making an appearance in five straight NBA Finals, they have missed the postseason for two consecutive years.

A lot of the blame for that can be attributed to injuries. Klay Thompson hasn’t appeared in a game since the 2019 NBA Finals against the Toronto Raptors. Stephen Curry was injured a lot of the 2019-20 season but showed this past season that he can still produce at an MVP level.

The Warriors would love to get back to contender status and make a run at an NBA Championship with the core of Curry, Thompson, and Draymond Green one more time. But, they will need some help to accomplish that.

Many people believed Golden State would pull a big move off this offseason. They had the assets to make a splash and Bob Myers has shown he is not afraid to pull the trigger on a move if it will improve the team’s chances of winning. Even if that move puts them deeper into the tax, it will be made.

While the big move never materialized, the Warriors were able to add some quality depth. Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody were selected with the team’s first-round picks. Otto Porter, Nemanja Bjelica, and Andre Iguodala were signed in free agency.

With their assets still in place, the Warriors could still make a trade. Could Kristaps Porzingis be someone that they target? Here are three reasons Golden State should strongly consider a trade with the Dallas Mavericks for Kristaps Porzingis.
