The drama continues to engulf the Philadelphia 76ers franchise as on Tuesday afternoon, after long speculation about Ben Simmons’ future, the former No. 1 overall pick requested a trade from the team and stated that he would not be attending training camp at the end of September based on NBA insider Keith Pompey’s report.
This is really no surprise to see Simmons wanting out, especially after both the fanbase and team have treated him since they lost to the Atlanta Hawks in the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
Although pretty much everybody outside of Embiid and Curry struggled for the 76ers, Ben Simmons has been the one receiving all the blame for the Sixers’ loss, which is one of the main reasons he probably wants a fresh start elsewhere in the league.
In four full seasons, Simmons has been extremely impressive, even if he can be a liability at times on offense. Not only has he been named an All-Star for three consecutive years, but he is a 2x All-Defensive Team performer and was named to the All-NBA list during the 2019-20 season.

Ben Simmons trade talks are going to be going on for the next several weeks as we wait to see what Daryl Morey and the 76ers’ front-office does, but if there is one thing we do know, it is that Philadelphia really wants Damian Lillard.
This is the worst kept secret in the league right now and while Lillard has stated that he is staying in Portland for now, could we potentially see him on the move early on in the season or near the trade deadline?
The 76ers and the Trail Blazers could definitely sort through some trades involving Simmons and Lillard, but another team could potentially be added to the equation.
