Golden State Warriors Receive: C Marc Gasol
Los Angeles Lakers Receive: F Mychal Mulder

The Los Angeles Lakers and Golden State Warriors come together in a swap that won’t make many headlines, but could still help both teams. If Marc Gasol is looking for a change of scenery after his first season in the purple-and-gold, the Lakers may be willing to trade him elsewhere.

In this trade, Gasol heads to Golden State, while the Lakers pick up Mychal Mulder. For the Warriors, this trade does make some sense.

The Warriors could use more battle-tested veterans in the frontcourt. The team has James Wiseman as a starting center right now, but he still needs some development to reach his potential. Someone like Gasol would be an excellent mentor for him to learn from.

Gasol has also proven he can still get the job done. Some of the Lakers’ most successful lineups last season included him at the center spot. He can still provide some rim protection and is an excellent floor spacer from the center spot, knocking down 41 percent of his 3-point attempts last season.

That would bring another dimension to a Warriors team that is lacking in shooting in the frontcourt. Draymond Green, Wiseman, and Kevon Looney are not going to hurt teams consistently from the 3-point line.

Mulder played in 60 games for the Warriors last season but with Moses Moody now on board, Klay Thompson getting healthier and Andre Iguodala back in the fold, swapping him out for frontcourt help makes sense.
