2. Fills A Need
One of the positions that the Los Angeles Lakers were looking to fill with their remaining roster spots was a point guard. The team worked out Isaiah Thomas, but Rajon Rondo fits their needs of what they were looking for at the position better than Thomas did.
Russell Westbrook was the only pure point guard that Los Angeles had. Kendrick Nunn is more of a scoring, combo guard. Talen Horton-Tucker is also expected to fill in as a backup point guard but is still developing his playmaking skills.
LeBron James has shown that he is more than capable of leading an offense as well, but the team could need him to play more frontcourt minutes, especially if Anthony Davis plays more frequently at center.
At this point, the Lakers weren’t going to find options better than Rondo to fill their need for a third point guard. He gives the team another veteran that is more than capable of running and initiating the offense that Frank Vogel wants to run.
