2. Portland Trail Blazers

The Portland Trail Blazers hadn’t done much yet this offseason before taking part in a three-team deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers and Chicago Bulls. In that deal, they landed Larry Nance Jr., who will bolster their frontcourt depth.

Nance is a solid addition, especially given the injury concerns Jusuf Nurkic has had in recent seasons. The former Wyoming product will be good insurance in the frontcourt and help the team out on defense.

But, if there is one glaring weakness on the roster still, it is a backup point guard. For years, the Trail Blazers have needed a backup point guard, but they have yet to find one. Anfernee Simons has seen his role expand, but he has some developing to do still as a playmaker.

Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum usually have their minutes staggered so that one of them is running the offense at all times. But, adding a true backup point guard to the mix would help take pressure off of them and Goran Dragic would be a present a good option.

Dragic could play alongside either of the starting guards, giving the Trail Blazers a good veteran to rely on off the bench. He has vast playoff experience as well, which will help an organization that has lost in the first round four out of the last five years.

Filling that gap in the rotation will help improve the team and allow Lillard and McCollum to play off the ball a little more to focus on doing what they do best; scoring the basketball.
