After making the NBA Finals in the NBA Bubble during the 2019-20 season, the Miami Heat took a major step backwards last season due to health protocols and numerous injuries on their roster. Overall though, the Heat had a major lack of talent and scoring outside of their two All-Stars in Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo.

This offseason, Pat Riley and the Heat front-office made plenty of moves to solidify this team as a championship contender, bringing in the likes of Kyle Lowry, P.J. Tucker and Markieff Morris, as well as re-signing the likes of Duncan Robinson, Victor Oladipo, Dewayne Dedmond, Max Strus and Gabe Vincent.

The Heat look like a real threat to contend for a title during the 2021-22 season, but they still have an open roster spot and could look to add another key backcourt talent to protect themselves incase Lowry gets hurt since Oladipo will be out for the first-half of the season as he recovers from another quad injury.

Rajon Rondo has averaged just 6.3 points per game over the last two seasons, but he has averaged 4.7 assists and has shot 36% from three-point range. In a handful of minutes off-the-bench in key games, he could really make a difference for the Heat, especially since he would not have to be anything more than a facilitator, a role he has thrived in his entire career.

The 2021-22 season is a year in which the Heat are going to do everything they can to try and win a title, which is why Rondo would make sense for them. He is a championship experienced point guard who can still play a strong handful of minutes in this league, which is why the Heat would want to add him for depth.
