4. Kristaps Porzingis

The decision to trade for Kristaps Porzingis from the New York Knicks has not panned out as the Dallas Mavericks had hoped. They thought they were getting a long-term sidekick for Luka Doncic. Instead, they are getting some headaches.

Kristaps Porzingis has continued to stay on the court healthy. He missed time during the Orlando Bubble and this season he played in only 43 games. He has appeared in only 100 games since tearing his ACL on February 6th, 2018.

In addition to the injuries, Kristaps Porzingis is reportedly not happy with his role on the team. He feels like an afterthought on the team with Doncic dominating the ball and spotlight. If that was not something Porzingis expected to happen, as Doncic is the face of the franchise, this marriage was doomed from the start.

Moving on from Porzingis will not be an easy task. Given his injury concerns, contract and disappearing act he pulled off in the postseason teams will not be lining up for him.

Interest is reportedly minimal in Kristaps Porzingis, but that is better than there is zero interest. A team desperate to make a splash and add a former All-Star to their roster could take a chance on Porzingis turning things around as more of a focal point of the team’s plan going forward.
