Terrence Ross

Trading for a guy like Terrence Ross is not going to be a “wow-factor” type trade that makes the Portland Trail Blazers a team to beat in the league, but Ross is a really solid rotational guy that could definitely aid the Blazers bench. They added guys like Snell and McLemore to be perimeter threats off-the-bench, but the Trail Blazers really need a guy that can simply score in their second-unit since they no longer have Carmelo Anthony.

Prior to getting injured last season, Terrence Ross had himself in the running for Sixth-Man of the Year and his team was one of the worst in the league! The veteran wing really is one of the more underappreciated players in the entire league and one of the more underrated scorers.

Since joining the Orlando Magic during the 2016-17 season, Ross has been very effective on the offensive-end of the floor, averaging 14.2 points and shooting 41.6% from the floor, 35.8% from three-point range. Not to mention, he has come off-the-bench in over 80% of the total games he has played in Orlando since joining them.

Portland’s bench should be better than they were last season in terms of shooting, but they are still missing that key scorer that they can lean on outside of their starting rotation. Terrence Ross could absolutely be that guy and his contract is cheap, only owed $24M over the next two seasons, which is very favorable for the Blazers given their financial hardships.

A trade involving Derrick Jones Jr. and possibly CJ Elleby, plus a draft pick, could be enough to convince Orlando to trade their veteran wing, which would wind up being a solid deal for Portland to get more scoring help they are going to need. Again, this trade does not set them over-the-edge in terms of talent, but it is definitely a start to prove to Lillard that the Blazers are committed to helping him.
